Coram’s Fields

In Outdoor fun on June 25, 2010 at 10:22 pm

Just a 10 minute walk from Russell Square tube station, Coram’s Fields is ideal for families wanting to go on a picnic or just have some fun under the sun.  It’s an open, green space with a play area suitable for toddlers and younger children.  There are sand pits, paddling pools, swings, slides and even a small pet’s corner.  The pet’s corner doesn’t seem to be the main attraction in comparison to the playground, where kids run around in their swimsuit or nappy, from one play area to the next.  Bring a big towel and a change of clothing because I bet you’ll need it!  If you’d like to make a day out of it why not visit the British Museum too.  And, if  you’re feeling really adventurous, take the 168 bus to Camden High Street – about a 15 – 20 minute journey.

The Draft House

In Pubs on June 20, 2010 at 10:22 pm

About a 12 minute walk from Clapham Junction Station, The Draft House is one of the most popular pubs in Battersea.  With 18 beer on tap it’s surely a hot spot – for singles and families alike.  Although it is extremely kid-friendly they unfortunately do not offer a kid’s menu, which would be absolutely fantastic!   Definitely take a peek at their  full menu which consists of a brunch selection (Saturday & Sunday), Sunday roast and even a lunch menu with the usual fish n chips and their Draft House Burger topped with a blue cheese mayo – scrummy!   Note that there is one other location in Westbridge.

Del’ Aziz

In Restaurants on June 19, 2010 at 12:15 pm

Del’ Aziz , an Eastern Mediterranean chain of restaurants serving a selection of sweet and savory foods, has 5 locations throughout London:  Fulham, Westfield, Swiss Cottage, Bermondsey and Bankside.  I have been to both the Westfield and Fulham restaurants and have had fantastic service along with great food.  They have daily lunch specials which are usually priced below £10.00 for a pita sandwich or other entree and a kid’s menu which is generally priced at £4.95, check your local restaurant for details.  They have an ample supply of  highchairs too plus a very comfortable seating area.  I recently went to Del’ Aziz Westfield with 7 other mums (as walk-ins) where the staff were quick to accommodate us all.

Bishop’s Park and Fulham Palace

In Cafes & bakeries, Outdoor fun, Parks on June 18, 2010 at 10:04 am

Take a stroll through Bishop’s Park and enter the beautiful gardens of Fulham Palace.  There you’ll find a cafe and huge lawn area where you can have a picnic and safely let your kids run around.  One of the greenest, hidden places in Fulham and a must see if you haven’t already.  The Drawing Room Cafe offers table service and/or take away if needed.  We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon here.  So peaceful and quiet!
